Year In Review, Last Minute Gifts & Flying In Style

Plus, the "no matter what" habit

by Brock McGoff

Hello again! I hope your week is going well so far.

In today's email:

  • Year in review
  • Last minute gifts
  • Flying in style
  • No matter what
  • Thoughtful design

Let's dive in πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ“Š Year In Review

Back when I first started blogging, I'd publish monthly and quarterly income reports.

They were sort of like behind the curtain board meetings for readers who were interested in the business end of things.

I like writing these periodic reviews because, whether or not you focus on money, they force to you reflect on what worked and what didn't.

So, I decided to write an annual review for 2025, including the highs, lows and lessons learned:

2025 Review: Fatherhood, YouTube, Health & More

Even if you don't have a blog, I encourage you to spend an hour writing your own annual review.

If you don't know where to start, try using my friend Andy's Year End Review Journal (it's free).

🎁 Last Minute Gifts

Wow, you're really procrastinating this year, huh?

Just kidding, no judgement here. I got your back:

Here's a solid last minute gift guide from Primer Magazine.

πŸ’Ί Flying In Style

As a species, we've collectively decided that navigating airports and sitting on airplanes sucks, so we should dress as comfortable as possible.

Function over form, to an extreme. Maybe even to a fault.

I get it. I also want to be comfy when flying (although I'm not wearing sweats and slides; I still have some self respect left).

But...this nostalgia soaked article from The Second Button might convince you step up your travel fits this holiday season.

πŸ’ Food for Thought

Underrated life hack: Build a β€œno matter what” habit. One thing you do every day regardless of mood, chaos, or excuses. Ten minutes of writing. A short walk. A chapter read. These become your anchors. The habit isn’t the point; who you become by keeping it is.

Making thoughtfully designed, high quality products in hard. Making thoughtfully crafted, high quality content is also hard.

Somehow, Craighill is doing both at the same time 🀯

Their videos explain the thought process behind their buy-it-for-life grade everyday wares, and it's really fun to watch.

Did you know? Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard not only popularized the use of nylon and other synthetic fabrics in outdoor gear, but also the concept of "clean climbing" (a philosophy that influenced the popular "leave no trace" movement). He's 87 years old now.

Until next time,

Brock
