Wearing Sandals, Casio Wrist Check & Easy Mode

Plus, what I'm watching/reading right now

🩴 “Real men don’t wear sandals”

I hear this all the time, mostly from anonymous internet trolls, but sometimes IRL too.

“I don’t want to see another man’s feet!”

Sir, thou doth protest too much.

Anyway, if a guy is grossed out by his own feet, the solution isn’t to hide them forever.

The solution is to have better feet, and that’s really easy.

You see, men’s feet aren’t much different from women’s feet. The big difference is, we tend to neglect ours.

When’s the last time you got a pedicure?

And ANY feet, regardless of gender, will look pretty bad if gone uncared for.

It’s not even hard: trim and file your toenails, use a foot file on callouses (inner edge of big toe, back of heel, etc.).

And after showering, use a little lotion.

Your feet will transform in just a couple of weeks.

Then you can wear whatever kind of footwear you want, including the open toe variety.

I’m really liking Bedrock and Tread Labs right now (they’ll both be featured in a YouTube video soon).

🍿 Watchlist

Here’s what I’m enjoying these days:

  • The Expanse - the audiobooks, not the show (couldn’t get into it)
  • The Bear - the show totally redeemed itself with season 3
  • Search Engine - a sort of reboot of Reply All, which was the best podcast of all time IMO

What about you? Hit ‘reply’ and let me know!

⌚️ Wrist Check

I’ve always had at least one cheap Casio in my collection.

Specifically, the F84W and F105W, both worthy alternatives to the legendary F91W.

But recently, I’ve been wearing this LF-20W, sleeper of the World Timer collection.

It was a gift from my brother-in-law who picked it up during a trip to Japan.

It’s about the size of any other small Casio (34mm wide, 38mm tall, 8mm thick).

But it feels more substantial than the 84 or 91, mostly because it has more going on.

This little world timer tracks 431 time zones. It has a countdown timer (very handy), stopwatch, alarm and auto calendar to 2099.

The LED backlight stays on for up to 3 seconds.

Casio doesn’t give an exact water resistance rating for this watch, but I’ve swam with it many times without issue.

I’ve been eyeing a smaller G-Shock model, but maybe this little LF-20W checks all the boxes?

🙋🏻‍♂️ Ask Yourself This Question

"What might this look like if it were easy?" (h/t Tim Ferriss)

I like this question because we (or I) tend to overcomplicate things.

Most tasks are pretty simple. Even complicated projects break down into basic steps.

Overcomplicating is a form of procrastination. It happens when we’re anxious or doubting our abilities.

But what would the task or decision look like if it were easy?

Well, probably much easier ;)

🤳🏼 Who I'm Following

@petersprism

Peter posts menswear tips and inspo “through a Gen X lens” (according to his Instagram bio).

He also does longer format videos on his YouTube channel.

I love that he’s built like me — shorter and slimmer — so his recommendations are super relevant.

He’s a designer by trade and has an excellent eye for color.

I don’t know Peter, but he seems like a good dude. Go give him a follow!

In Case You Missed It 👀

Here are my most recent videos:

I’m working on another comfy shoe roundup featuring a bunch of new brands, some of which you probably haven’t heard of.

Stay tuned!

Did You Know? There’s only one Blockbuster store left on earth. It’s in Bend, Oregon. There’s a documentary about it on Netflix. I want to go rent 3 Ninjas and stay up all night drinking Surge and prank calling girls.

Until next time,

Brock
