π§π»ββοΈ Men Over 40
Last week, I published a video about style and grooming mistakes men over 40 make.
I made a similar video 5 years ago, but this new one is very different.
Why'd I change my opinions and advice? Two reasons:
First... I'm older now. I'm a 40 year old dad, not a mid-30s guy with no kids living in NYC.
Second... Menswear, and fashion in general, has changed a LOT in the past 5 years.
Before, I tried teaching older guys about "rules" β what to wear, what not to wear.
Now, I'm focused on authenticity and feeling, without totally ignoring dress codes.
If you haven't seen the video yet, you can watch it right here:
If you're short on time, here are the key takeaways:
- Dressing up β Dressing well --> Formality and style used to be tightly correlated, but not anymore
- Avoid a "Real men don't ___" mentality --> This is a trap; caring about appearance doesn't make you feminine, it makes you an adult
- Forget the "rules" --> Yes, you're allowed to wear graphic tees and sneakers in your 40s, 50s and beyond
- Evolve --> Slim fit everything isn't as timeless as we thought; try looser fits, you might love them!
- Don't give up --> Being busy isn't an excuse to go full Tommy Bahama dad bod; keep trying new brands and style, don't be afraid to test out trends
