My Favorite Bracelet, Good Reads & A Brand You Should Follow

Plus, are you climbing the wrong mountain?

by Brock McGoff

Hello again! I hope your week is going well so far.

In today's email:

  • The bracelet I always wear
  • How to get into jewelry (as a guy)
  • Some food for thought
  • Articles to add to your reading list
  • A menswear brand you should follow

Let's dive in πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

✨ My Bracelet

I get a lot of questions about this bracelet:

It's a 3.7mm sterling silver box chain bracelet by John Hardy.

The best price I can find for this exact bracelet right now is from Farfetch, which is where mine is from.

But if you Google "john hardy 4mm silver bracelet" you'll find other options.

You can also find cheaper versions from other brands, like this one from Mejuri or Miansai.

You can find smaller versions, like 3mm or 2mm. Or variations on the style (cuban chain, rope chain, chain link).

Of course, you can find gold or gold plated versions too.

If you hunt around, you can find the exact right bracelet for you.

I love a simple metal chain bracelet because you can wear it with literally anything.

Swim trunks? Yup.

Smart casual? Sure thing.

A suit and tie??

Yes, chef.

It's the perfect entry into men's jewelry. Much easier than a necklace or non-wedding band rings, in my humble opinion.

And sterling silver will last forever, so I think it's worth ponying up for the real deal vs. plated steel or other cheaper alloy.

Btw, my friend Barron (Effortless Gent) just published a great video about men's jewelry, aimed at guys who want to start wearing it but don't know how. Check it out!

πŸ’ Food for Thought

You don't need to worry about progressing slowly. You need to worry about climbing the wrong mountain.

🀳🏼 Who I'm Following

@toddsnyderny

I mostly ignore men's fashion look books. I have no interest in New York Fashion Week.

But there are a handful of brands that put out practical (yet aspiring) look books that regular guys can get real inspiration from.

Todd Snyder is one of those brands. Their recent collab with @thisguykirk is a perfect example.

All three sets are so clean, so realistic and bookmarkable.

Did you know? The β€œCuban chain” bracelet/necklace got its name not because it came from Cuba, but because the chunky curb-link style became iconic in Miami’s Cuban community and hip-hop scene of the 70s, 80s and 90s. The name really stuck!

Until next time,

Brock
